Parkrose Community Village
- Location: 12501 NE Halsey St., Portland
- Site partner: Parkrose Community United Church of Christ
- Opened: August 2022
- Capacity: 10 sleeping pods
St. Andrew’s Village
Our most recent village, located on the property of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, opened its doors in April 2025. St. Andrews Village provides safe, accessible shelter for adults over 45 or those with disabilities. With a full kitchen, ADA access, and strong community partnerships, St. Andrews Village represents WeShine’s most recent step toward expanding hope across Portland.

Avalon Village
- Location: 2539 SE 19th Ave., in Portland’s Hosford-Abernethy Neighborhood
- Site Partner: PBOT
- Opened: August 2024
- Capacity: 10 adults

How to Get Involved
Joining WeShine as a volunteer is simple — and every step you take helps create lasting change. Here’s how you can start your journey with us:
Sign Up Online
Fill out our short volunteer application form to tell us a bit about yourself, your skills, and how you’d like to contribute.
Attend Orientation
Join our orientation session to learn more about WeShine’s mission, safety guidelines, and volunteer opportunities.
Start Volunteering!
Once approved, you’ll be matched with a village or project that best fits your interests. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and make an impact!

These raised beds were built by a local Scout group at one of our WeShine micro-villages — and look at that winter kale thriving! We love partnering with neighbors, community organizations, and local groups who believe everyone deserves a dignified, rooted place to call home. This garden is shared by our residents and our church partners and neighbors — because that’s how it should be.

We are always moved by how much Portlanders care about our city’s homelessness crisis. As Micheal from @humansforhousingorg says at the opening of the exhibit, “Portland is a city I love but also Portland, you’re breaking my heart!” We have a long road ahead of us. WeShine has been lucky to become buddies with the fabulous folks at @humansforhousingorg and to be a featured non profit at the beautiful and inspiring art installation and exhibit @dearportlandexhibit at @steloarts Today we hosted a WeShine presentation and volunteer orientation in the gallery space after our guests got to view the exhibit! If you have not seen this moving exhibit PLEASE DO! The exhibit runs til April 9th!

The WeShine Board helps our Executive Director as well as other staff guide our non profit in invaluable ways by serving on committees (Infrastructure or Events/Fund Development, etc) and supporting our villagers and villages with guidance and direction!
