During the July 4th weekend, thieves broke into Avalon Village and stole thousands of dollars worth of items needed to furnish the shelter community’s pods. The stolen items included portable air conditioning units, a TV for the group meeting room, printers for the business office, lamps, and bedding. An initial estimate values the lost inventory at about $10,000. Surveillance video yielded little information to identify the burglars.
Avalon is set to open and welcome unsheltered Portlanders in less than a month (August 5th).
